Professional Teeth Whitening Adds a Finishing Touch

Teeth whitening is a popular cosmetic dentistry service for good reason. Professional whitening treatment can substantially improve the color of your teeth and give you the boost of self-esteem you need to feel confident to smile.  Our dentist offers two great teeth whitening options with Boost!® and KoR Whitening systems.

How Boost!® Whitening Works

Boost! is an in-office treatment option that dramatically whitens teeth in about 60 minutes. This treatment involves applying a patented lightening solution that contains carbamide peroxide over teeth. As an added bonus, Boost treatment ends with the application of fluoride to strengthen teeth and potassium nitrate to reduce tooth sensitivity.

This type of professional teeth whitening is convenient, comfortable, and effective.

KoR Teeth Whitening

While in-office whitening is convenient, it is not always the best option for producing a bright smile. Patients who have deep, stubborn stains may see better results with KoR whitening. KoR is a whitening system that is used at home with custom trays and a prescription solution. This treatment option requires multiple uses to achieve the desired result. For some, a mixture of in-office and at-home treatments is necessary to lift dark and deep discoloration.

Extending the Longevity of Teeth Whitening Treatments

Teeth are porous and can re-stain. If you want to extend the longevity of your teeth whitening treatments, we recommend avoiding dark-colored beverages and food. Common food items like berries, beets, wine, soda, and coffee are typical stain-causing culprits.

If you do consume these items, do so in moderation. We also recommend that you use a straw when drinking dark beverages. A straw can help push liquids away from your teeth and toward the back of your mouth.

It’s also important to practice meticulous oral hygiene and keep routine dental appointments for cleanings. Proper brushing and flossing along with regular professional cleanings remove surface stains.
